This article will guide you how to create and display contact form to your WordPress site using Contact Form 7.
What Is Contact Form 7
Contact Form 7 is simple but flexible contact form plugin. Contact Form 7 can manage multiple contact forms, plus you can customize the form and the mail contents flexibly with simple markup. The form supports Ajax-powered submitting, CAPTCHA, Akismet spam filtering and so on.
Install Contact Form 7
First thing you need to do is login to your WordPress admin area. Next, click on Plugins > Add New.
Type in “contact form 7” in Search Plugins box to search for Contact Form 7 plugin.
Next, click Install Now button to install the plugin.
WordPress will now install your plugin and show you a button to activate the plugin. Click on the Activate button and you’ve successfully installed and activated Contact Form 7 plugin.
Setup Contact Form
When you activate the plugin, you will see a new menu in the WordPress administration menu with the name Contact. Click the menu to manage contact form. On next screen, you can create new contact forms for your WordPress site or edit existing ones via Edit option.
The most important settings you need to define are located in Mail tab.
Here’s what you should have in each field when you edit forms in the Mail tab.
To: The email address you want to receive contact form submissions at.
From: An email address that comes from the domain name of the website (no Gmail or other non-branded email address). You can also add the
[your-name] if you’d like.
Subject: This can’t be empty. Either put the
[your-subject] shortcode, or manually put something here.
Additional Headers: Reply-To:
Message Body: Use the shortcodes from your form to build the email response you want to receive.
As always, whenever you change your contact form, send yourself some test emails to make sure everything is working properly.
Just after creating new contact form, you will see shortcode like this:
Copy the shortcode. Then, create new Page or edit the existing Page and paste the code you copied into the contents of the page.
Now your contact form setup is complete. Visitors to your site can now find the form and start submitting messages to you.
